Clare Woods: Reality Dimmed
The exhibition presents a new series of paintings inspired by found photographic imagery that Clare Woods collects, which often depict people at their most vulnerable, including in situations of conflict and confinement. Reinterpreted in oil paint using long, curved brushstrokes and sensuous colour, Clare Woods has created paintings which contain an intrinsic tension between reality and abstraction.
On Tuesday 16 January, from 5.30 to 7.3pm, Clare Woods will be in conversation with Karen Lang to discuss her new series of paintings. There will be a panel of Warwick academics commenting on Woods' work and the discussion will then be opened to involve the audience. From 7 to 9pm, Clare Woods and the Mead Gallery curators will host a special reception including book signing.
