DEINE KUNST (5): Mensch, der / Körper, der, die, das
In 2019, the Städtische Galerie Wolfsburg invited Berlin-based artist Michael Müller (* 1970) to curate an experimental new presentation of the collection. The artist shows an exhibition cycle that extends over a period of several years and presents the collection in seven successive versions. Various formal and content-related priorities are set.
In the currently presented fifth version, Michael Müller is devoting himself to one topic for the first time. “Mensch, der / Körper, der die, das” illuminates various facets of physicality and our feeling for the body - a highly virulent question in times of genetic reproductions and operative optimization of the body, which leads to interesting insights.
This presentation is overlaid with the fictional show “Old Masters. Tintoretto in Wolfsburg ”, which is the sixth version. The title "Old Masters" refers to the novel of the same name by Thomas Bernhard and contains texts by Leszek Stalewski.
